Senior Pastor

Rev. Dr. S. Isaiah Harvin aka "Pastor Isaiah" is a true east coast kid and product of the 2nd Episcopal District of the AME church. He was born in NC; raised in VA and has been living in the nation’s capital, DC, since 1995. He is the youngest child to the Rev. Charles L. Harvin, Sr., former Pastor of Macedonia A.M.E. in VA, and Mrs. Lillie Harvin. He is a product of the Chesapeake Public School system and has earned several degrees afterwards: a B. S. in Business Administration from St. Augustine’s College; a M. Div. and a D. Min. degree both from Howard University School of Divinity. His dissertation, "African Methodism Engaging Hip Hop Culture of the 21st Century: From Teaching to Triumph", was defended and earned in 2007 under the tutelage of Rev. Dr. Cheryl Sanders and Rev. Dr. Cain Hope Felder.  He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Upon relocating to the Washington metropolitan area, Pastor Isaiah joined "The National Cathedral of African Methodism", Metropolitan A.M.E. under the leadership of now Bishop William P. DeVeaux. While attending Metropolitan, he was a very active member of the Voices of Inspiration Choir and served as a charter mentor of the Rites of Passage Ministry. On Friday, March 13th, "Pastor Isaiah" accepted his call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Louis-Charles Harvey, Ph.D., President Emeritus of Payne Theological Seminary and Presiding Elder of the Potomac District of the Washington Annual Conference.  In 2003, "Pastor Isaiah" was the second of seven persons to be fully ordained an Itinerant Elder in the A.M.E. church.   In his preaching career, he has had the opportunity to preach and teach the Gospel domestic and internationally; however, his most memorable engagement was being the speaker for the ecumenical and prayer services of the first and only conglomeration of the 9th, 10th and 24th Regiment of the Buffalo Soldiers in 2009.

"Pastor Isaiah" has been on the administration of Howard University since 1998 and even there he has able to minister and mentor in the midst of doing administration. From 1998 to 2005, he served as Youth Pastor within the A.M.E. and Presbyterian denominations, but in 2005, God elevated "Pastor Isaiah" to become the 3rd appointed pastor of Christ Chapel A.M.E. in Sterling, VA. Three years later, in 2008, Pastor Isaiah was elevated a second time to become the 3rd appointed and first male pastor of Galilee A.M.E. in the SW section of the nation's capital.  In 2012, Rev. Harvin was elevated a 3rd time to become the 3rd appointed Pastor of Brookins Faith Temple A.M.E. aka "The Temple" in the New Carrollton/Lanham, MD area.  It has been and continues to be his focus to "Build A Church from the Inside Out" and his heart, to doing ministry is about empowering the people of God with the Word of God so they "will not allow their fear factor to cause their faith to fail, but focus on the Father which will force them to face their foe face forward."

He has delivered sermons with titles such as "Don’t Get Caught in the System", "’ Ain’t Easy", "Freaks Come Out at Night" and "Let’s Just Kiss and Say Good-bye". Because of his boldness to believe God, he finds solace in the words of several biblical icons such as:

  • David that says, "...yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for Thou art with me..." (Ps. 23:4);
  • Paul that says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." (Phil. 4:13),

But the peace of God that soothes him is because of God's message, through the Prophet Isaiah which says

  • "(54:17) no weapon formed against you shall prosper and you shall refute every tongue that falsely accuses you..."
